Designer Profile

I’ve always had a passion and affinity for design and I am completely self-taught. I am an Allied Member of ASID and have run my own design firm for 12 years. I also have my own television show featuring my celebrity clientele, including Jessica Alba and Virginia Madsen.

My work has been featured in In Style, In Touch, Home and Décor, Los Angeles Home, Los Angeles Home and Décor, among others. I’ve also been published in a number of books, including Ultimate Decorating, Dream Walls, and Inspired High End Interior Design, and I write a column for Dog Fancy magazine about pet-friendly design.

I have my contractor’s license and Kari Whitman Interiors is a “one-stop shop” for all of your design needs. I personally oversee all aspects of the construction and design process and have been working with the same group of highly-skilled subcontractors for over 10 years.

The state of California does not require the NCIDQ exam or continuing education units.

Fee Structure

My initial consultation is completely free of charge. I charge my clients based on a percentage of any work that is done or materials that are ordered—from flooring to walls, to furniture, fabric and decorative accessories. I do not charge for my time for shopping for clients, phone conversations or client visits. The only time I charge an hourly rate is for rearranging existing furniture, if needed, or mixing custom paint colors.

My design experience ranges from small homes to celebrity mansions, and everything in between! I do, however, have a two room minimum for design jobs.
