I work closely with my clients providing interior design solutions unique to each clients' needs. I take pride in my attention to both construction and decorative details.

Leonard Braunschweiger & Company Inc. has been providing design services to both residential and commercial clients since 1983. The company designs interiors primarily in the New York City metropolitan area, but has worked on projects throughout the United States and as far afield as the Middle East.

Services Offered

I have also successfully worked in collaboration with architects, lighting designers, and engineers involving coordination of interior and exterior renovations as well as new construction. I collaborated with the Gruzen Partnership Architect on new construction including lobbies and public spaces. Prior to establishing my firm I designed interiors for I.M.Pei & Partners Architects.

I have established a design consultation service conceived to help people with modest budgets. My design expertise can program your general needs and help you develop a design direction. I can also focus on your specific problems i.e. furniture placement,lighting , window treatments,storage problems, materials, color and finishes etc. By working with you proactively I can recommend both sources and services thereby helping you achieve your goals.

  Hampton Bay water views. The room before was a large empty impersonal cold space with soaring ceilings. The design called for a single rug to help pull two intimate seating areas together. This concept for intimacy is enhanced by the iron chandelier hung  above one seating group. Muted colors were chosen to to add emphasis to the water views. Comfortable transitional furnishings were selected and mill work arches designed. All aspects of the design achieved the clients' practical and visual needs.
Foyer with Central Park views published in New York Spaces. This apartment was a typical 60's cookie cutter plan with 8 foot ceilings. The space was a gut renovation resulting in a new foyer with figured maple paneling and doors opening to the library and Central Park views.
Living room West Harrison, N.Y. published in New York Spaces. The house is located in a new high end development.The young newly married couple needed to furnish an empty house . The project was to design the family/living room interiors with a mix of comfortable transitional and modern furnishings. Cranberry red, one of the client's favorite colors, is used as an accent color and the wall color of the dining room beyond. The design added a unique detail, enlarging entry arches trimmed with cherry wood and antique glass inserts.
Former kitchen renovated into a master bathroom. A gut renovation combined a one bedroom 1100 square foot unit with a three bedroom apartment. The former kitchen now a bathroom was planned with a windowed shower facing East River views. The entire bathroom is statuary white marble with water blue back splash tiles and dark gray slab marble counter.
Country kitchen Bedford N.Y.house design called for a gut renovation combining a family room with an all custom oak kitchen. The floors are oak wood planking with custom back splash quilted pattered tile.
Apartment galley kitchen published in Interior Design Magazine. The kitchen was gutted and custom fitted with standard kitchen cabinets. The stainless steel custom sink is under mounted into a Caesars stone counter top. The floors are Brazilian parquet hardwood floors as installed throughout the apartment.
Park Avenue duplex apartment published in Area Magazine. The client was a young power couple and wanted to have an interior that would feel young and still have the permanence of old world charm. Antique furnishings and a 14 foot x 24 foot antique rug were installed. The walls are decoratively painted in hues of yellow and rose colors. Some contemporary art work and accessories add youthful character to the interior.
Westchester family room published in New York Spaces. The sectional sofa was installed to seat the maximum number of people and was arranged to take advantage of simultaneously viewing both fireplace and HDTV. Val Verde flamed limestone was installed to cover the redesigned fireplace and informal materials were selected i.e. the glass and cane wrapped coffee table.
Westchester house dining room published in New York Spaces. The room is decoratively painted in hues of cranberry red, the clients favorite color. The breakfront was custom designed to fit with a traditional table and French cane backed chairs. The alabaster chandelier was chosen adding a red orange hue and art work was selected adding a unique scale to this intimate dining room.
West Side apartment published in New York Spaces. The painted wood and faux marble arch was created by opening a wall between an entry foyer and small dining area. A gold gilt chandelier was installed above the table and a custom armoire designed for ample coat storage. Combining these spaces made for more gracious living.

West Village apartment published in New York Living. The client needed to maximize storage in a small two bedroom apartment. In the master bedroom new furniture was designed or selected and one wall of custom designed  cherry cabinetry  holds combination of clothing storage and an  entertainment center. Lighting and attention to detailing created a spacious feeling in an otherwise small room.
Kitchen in West Harrison N.Y. The preparation counter was planned on axis to the open arch leading into the family room. The black granite counter is lite by three antique hanging ship lamps. The Pierce Martin cherry wood table and  chairs allows comfortable seating for six. The custom wood books shelving is convenient for storing cook books while concealing glass and wood pocket doors.
My office was planned with six comfortable working spaces, a small conference area and concealed library shelving as seen in the photograph.

My office has a well planned entry space as seen in photograph. One one side of the entry space are 8 foot doors concealing an extensive library and a maple wall surround the working spaces.

New offices for a Park Avenue accounting firm. The custom reception desk is located off passenger elevators located on the 31st floor with panoramic vistas of the city, including Hudson and East river views. Glass partitions and door bring daylight to the interior as well as exposing magnificent views.

Riverdale NY kitchen gut renovation in private house. This kitchen is all high end custom designed project.  The floors are stone, the cabinetry is cherry with granite counters.

Park Avenue accounting office. The gut renovation of 16,000 square feet was achieved due to the close working relationship of my firm as designers, client, engineers, broker, and landlord. We designed the office plan to meet the clients specific needs while giving priority to light and views. The design was built with budget considerations, however combined with special details a powerful image was achieved.
